E. Stanley Richadrson
A Poet’s Journey of Awakening and Advocacy
E. Stanley Richardson’s story begins in the quiet town of Alachua, Florida, where he grew up surrounded by the simplicity of rural life. Born and raised in North Central Florida, Richardson was an athlete and scholar, excelling in sports and academics from an early age. His talent for football earned him an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida, where he pursued a degree in political science. But even in those early years, something was missing—a deeper connection, a sense of purpose yet to be realized.
A Life Transformed
At the age of 48, after a series of life-altering experiences, E. Stanley Richardson underwent a profound awakening. It was in these moments of self-reflection and change that he rediscovered what had always been inside of him—an artist, a poet, and a creative spirit. He began to embrace his role as an artist, poet, actor, educator, and advocate for the arts. He recognized that poetry wasn’t just an escape; it was a tool for social change, a way to communicate the depths of the African American experience, and a way to inspire others to take action.

The Advocate for Arts and Activism
As a poet, Richardson’s mission became clear: to use his art to uplift and empower others. He became a passionate advocate for the arts, especially in communities of color, where creativity is often stifled or overlooked. His work embodies the spirit of the “Black Arts Movement,” blending elements of gospel, blues, jazz, soul, and hip hop to capture the essence of African American life. Through performances, workshops, and readings, Richardson now dedicates his life to bringing poetry to the people—creating spaces where everyone can feel seen, heard, and inspired.
A Call to Action
Through his debut book “Hip Hop Is Dead – Long Live Hip Hop, The Birth, Death And Resurrection Of Hip Hop Activism“, Richardson’s poetry calls for action. It asks hard questions and challenges the status quo. His work speaks to the power of music, art, and activism in the fight for social justice, and it compels others to consider: How Sacred Is The Music? His voice is a rallying cry for all who believe in the power of creative expression to spark change.
Join the Movement
Now, as the founder of ARTSPEAKSgnv Inc., Richardson continues to advocate for the arts in North Central Florida. His organization empowers poets and artists through workshops, performances, and festivals. Through his work, he invites others to join the movement, to support and engage with the arts in ways that matter.
E. Stanley Richardson’s story is one of awakening, resilience, and creative transformation. It’s a reminder that it’s never too late to answer the call of the artist within.
